Sanusi not arrested, it's fake news, says aide

PETALING JAYA: A report that Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has been arrested again is fake news, says his aide Helmi Khalid.

"He is with me now in Sik. No, he has not been arrested," said Helmi when contacted at 9pm Saturday (Aug 5) after a news portal reported that Muhammad Sanusi was arrested in Alor Star, Kedah.

Checks with Kedah police showed that there is no truth in that report.

"It is news to us," said a Kedah police source.

In a statement issued by PDRM Bukit Aman, its corporate communications head ACP Skandaguru Ananda said the report was fake.

At 8.33pm Saturday, a news portal reported that its sources had said that Muhammad Sanusi was arrested by police from Bukit Aman after failing to show up at a ceramah event at Padang Serai.
